Botswana Stock exchange has launched an Investor Handbook in an endeavour to encourage citizen participation in the economy by investing in the capital markets. The book provides comprehensive information on what the stock exchange is, the benefits of investing on the stock exchange and how to invest on the stock exchange.
It also outlines different types of investments that one can make on the BSE, how to make investment and how to monitor one’s investment on the stock exchange. The Handbook comes at a crucial time when government has made a decision to privatise the Botswana Telecommunication Corporation Limited (BTCL). The company is at an advanced stage of going public in its Initial Public Offer (IPO). The handbook is therefore an opportunity to provide guidance to the individual citizens as to what to expect on such an investment.
The book will give invaluable insight into the world of investing and enhance the public’s preparedness to participate in the upcoming IPO. BSE’s Board Chairperson, Regina Sikalesele-Vaka said the book is a valuable tool for educating ordinary citizens to create their own wealth and financial independence through the stock exchange. The Investor Handbook has been made available for access at the BSE offices or online.
