In 2015, Honda will launch a full assault on the hot hatch market and every one in the motoring industry should be worried. The Honda Civic Type R is one of the most eagerly anticipated cult cars of 2015 and it has been in development for close to three years.
Quiet simply put, Honda wants the 2-litre hatch to be the most powerful front wheel production car on the planet. The turbo Type R will churn out 276 bhp at 7000 rpm. These figures are enough to worry the VW Golf R, Ford Focus RS and the Opel OPC. Currently the Type R is being developed at the Nurburgring in Germany, which happens to be the longest racing track in the world.
Aesthetically the hatch will be a visually fest compared to German rivals. The arrival of the Type R will also provide a fresh of breath air to the hot hatch market as it is widely respected for being a drivers car with a bullet proof, high revving V-tec engine and a close ratio gear box.
